Launching a TikTok account: preparation, audience research and your first 10 videos

A practical TikTok guide: plan your operations, install and register through official channels, secure and package the account, research benchmarks, plan 10 videos, write English scripts, review results and handle enquiries. Includes reusable prompts and a zero-view troubleshooting process.

For a first TikTok account, I recommend one concrete goal: help the right customer understand the problem you solve, then give them a reason to keep watching, ask a question or visit your profile. Build a repeatable set of content before scaling.

The running example is introducing drawer organisers to people living in small UK homes. You will get an account preparation process, profile copy, ten video ideas, one shootable English script and a method for deciding what to change after publication. The brand and script are teaching examples, with no claimed views, orders or sales.

For export or factory businesses, replace the renter with your buyer and the organising question with specifications, workmanship or sample selection. The operating sequence stays useful; the content and contact route must reflect your customer.

01 · Decide how you will operate the account

Before starting, decide your target market, account owner and daily operating arrangement. Installation channels, registration options and available features vary by region, account eligibility and device environment. Check the official information for the features you can actually use before planning the content.

Make the responsibilities clear:
• Working alone: control the registration email, verification methods, assets and publishing records yourself. Start with one clearly positioned account and establish a sustainable filming, editing and reply routine.
• Working as a team: assign product research, scripting, filming, editing, publishing and replies. Agree on account ownership, control of the email and staff handover in advance. Use supported delegation tools.
• Working across regions or travelling: verify service and feature availability in your actual environment and retain security and recovery methods. Registration does not imply access to LIVE, Shop, payments or creator rewards.
• If access is currently unavailable: save the exact error and check the official app, service availability and connectivity while preparing positioning, scripts, assets and a landing page. A business can ask IT or its network provider to assess access requirements.

Do not treat purchased accounts, shared Apple accounts, disposable verification numbers or unofficial installation packages as prerequisites. Whoever controls the email and verification channel may also control account recovery. A network provider cannot guarantee TikTok distribution.

02 · Assign mobile and desktop tasks and prepare six essentials

Use a phone to film, inspect framing, access in-app editing and manage comments. Use a computer for asset organisation, scripts and benchmark research, and for web uploads and analytics when the account supports them. Web access does not prove mobile availability, and the interfaces may offer different features.

Prepare:
1. A device you control with current system and security updates and enough video storage. There is no reliable basis for requiring a particular model or a factory reset to launch an account.
2. A long-term email address you can recover. If the current registration flow requires a phone number, use one permanently controlled by you or the business that can actually receive verification messages.
3. The account owner, operator, truthful date of birth and intended market. Your business market is a choice; account region and identity must follow platform requirements.
4. Original or licensed profile and product assets.
5. One sentence explaining the account, an English name and a working contact route.
6. A password manager or approved company storage for credentials and recovery information. Shared tracking sheets should contain owners and status, never passwords or codes.

iPhone: in a supported service region, check the official TikTok app and developer in the App Store. If unavailable, verify account region and local availability through Apple’s official process instead of buying a shared account.

Android: prefer Google Play in a supported region or a download offered by TikTok itself. Avoid modified packages advertised as bypassing verification or warming accounts.

Desktop: type tiktok.com yourself, verify the address and use its login or upload page. Obtain any client only through an official entry point and watch for imitation advertising links.

03 · Registration and security: retain control of the account

Open the official app and choose a registration method offered on the current page: email, phone or a third-party account. Supply your real date of birth, complete verification and set a unique password. Email registration may still require additional verification later.

After registration:
• From Profile, open the menu and Settings and privacy, then locate Account or Security & permissions. Labels can change; search official help for Account safety if necessary.
• Confirm that you control the linked email and number. Enable the offered two-step verification methods and retain recovery information.
• Review logged-in devices and remove unfamiliar ones. Use supported delegation tools for teamwork. If unavailable, assign one publisher instead of distributing passwords in a group chat.
• Check profile and post visibility. Content intended for public discovery must not accidentally be private or Only you.
• Review comments, direct messages, contact syncing and downloads according to business needs. Follow the displayed age, region and account eligibility limits.

If a code does not arrive, check the country code, spelling, spam folder and access to the email account, then wait as instructed. Repeated requests and new registrations make diagnosis harder. Complete security checks through official flows; record the exact restriction message and use support or appeal tools.

04 · Choose the account type that fits the business

For personal expertise, educational content or a personal brand, assess whether a Personal Account meets your needs. If the account primarily represents a business promoting products or services, review Business Account tools and requirements. Avoid switching repeatedly based on rumours about reach.

Check music rights for promotional content. Hearing a track in someone else’s post does not grant permission to advertise a product with it. Use music licensed for the applicable commercial use or a track for which you hold the necessary rights.

Website fields depend on account type, region and eligibility. Do not assume switching to a Business Account guarantees a link. Check the actual Website field in Edit profile; if absent, consult current requirements and use a contact option that is available. TikTok Shop, advertising accounts, Business Accounts and creator reward programmes are separate systems; access to one does not enable the others.

05 · What account preparation should actually involve

I use account preparation to mean learning the platform, checking that the account works, researching the audience and preparing original content. There is no reliable basis for treating a fixed number of days, daily likes or mandatory login times as official requirements.

TikTok describes recommendation signals including viewing behaviour, interactions, content information and user information. What you watch first affects your own recommendations; it does not prove that watching UK videos for three days will make your posts reach only UK viewers. You still need to test whether your topics, language, visuals and product make sense to the intended audience.

Search relevant business terms, watch useful examples, save them by topic, discuss genuine questions and follow accounts that consistently help your research. Skip irrelevant content rather than watching to fulfil a quota.

Do not buy followers or views, arrange reciprocal engagement or mass-copy comments. These actions contaminate the data you need to judge customer interest. Constantly changing devices or regions, or deleting and recreating accounts, is also a poor explanation for every low-view post. Once the account works, the profile is ready and the first video is good enough, you can publish without waiting for a supposed warming-complete signal.

06 · Set the positioning before editing the profile

Home organisation is too broad for a starting position. I would narrow it to drawer organisation and pre-purchase measuring tips for renters in small UK homes. This keeps topics, settings and wording coherent.

Give each profile element a job:
• Avatar: a recognisable portrait or brand mark that remains clear when small, rather than a full promotional poster.
• Username: short and easy to say and search. Check availability and rights before using it.
• Display name: a brand name plus a useful descriptor such as Small-space storage. Example names are not confirmed available or cleared for commercial use.
• Bio: who it helps, what value it offers and what to do next. Check the actual character limit before saving.
• Link: if enabled, send visitors to a product or information page that matches the video. Test the entire mobile journey, including language, loading, contact details and form confirmation.

Unsupported claims such as global leader, best quality or serving hundreds of thousands do not explain the actual offer. Once the first three posts are ready, use pinning if available for an introduction, a complete demonstration and a buying FAQ.

Example bio, to adapt to your actual business:
Small-space storage, made practical.
Measure first. Organise better.

Do not write “Click the link below” if no clickable website field is available. Once a working link exists, add a specific action such as “See the sizing guide”.

07 · Research consistent accounts, not just one viral post

Search terms such as drawer organisation, small kitchen storage, renter friendly organisation and small flat storage. Check whether results actually match the intended setting and refine the query instead of searching only for TikTok viral.

For a first pass, I suggest ten accounts: four product or brand accounts, three lifestyle creators and three educational accounts answering specific questions. This is a research plan, not a platform requirement. Review roughly ten recent posts per account to identify repeatable topics instead of judging by one exceptional post.

Record the original URL, publication and observation dates, duration, first-three-second visuals and words, structure, audience questions and whether you can recreate the approach with original footage. Date observed metrics and leave unavailable data blank.

You can organise leads with the account or video search tools available to you in the main site’s overseas workbench. Check actual access after login. If a result is missing, verify it on TikTok rather than treating missing data as zero. Tools speed up organisation; the original source is still needed to verify authorship, dates and performance.

A useful repeatable structure is one clear problem, a visible process and a verifiable result. Do not copy someone’s face, voice, footage or reviews and present them as yours.

Open the AI Super Player overseas workbench

Use the TikTok source information I provide to produce a shootable benchmark analysis.
Business: drawer organisers. Audience: renters in small UK homes.
For each example, list its source URL, observation date, customer problem, first-three-second hook, shot order, visual evidence, closing action, unanswered comment questions and original footage I need.
Then suggest five original topics that borrow the problem and structure, not the original wording or footage.
Mark missing views, comments or dates as “not provided”. Do not infer the entire market from one account.
Source information: [paste verified notes, transcript and URLs].

08 · Plan the first ten videos around three content themes

Start with three themes: demonstrate a problem, explain a selection method and show a real process. Make three posts first to assess production effort and feedback, then expand to ten. Support each idea with your own product footage.

01 A drawer that will not close: show the obstruction immediately, check internal height and ask which drawer viewers find hardest to organise.
02 Three measurements before buying: internal width, depth and usable height, rather than external dimensions alone.
03 Two layouts in the same drawer: keep the camera position fixed and explain which makes everyday items easier to reach.
04 Neat but inconvenient: show an actual retrieval action and improve the compartments instead of displaying empty boxes.
05 What fits in a narrow drawer: use measured objects and dimensions without perspective tricks that exaggerate capacity.
06 Cleaning and care: follow the actual material and instructions; do not invent dishwasher-safe claims.
07 An overlooked buying check: show rails or protrusions that reduce usable space.
08 Answer a real comment: turn the question into a video. If no comment exists, call it a common question rather than fabricating a screenshot.
09 Making or packing the product: show authorised real processes and hide customer addresses and order details.
10 One complete organising session: connect measuring, placing and opening/closing around the audience’s most important questions.

Give each post one primary action. Educational posts can invite viewers to save a measuring method; demonstrations can point to specifications. Not every post needs a purchase call. Ten posts are a first comparison sample, not a promise of increased distribution.

09 · Film the first post: a 25-second measuring demonstration

I would begin with “Do not measure only the width before buying drawer organisers.” It has a clear problem, needs no actor and does not depend on complex effects. Prepare a real drawer, organisers, tape measure, phone and stable support. Clean the lens and use soft daylight or lighting so the measurements are legible.

0–3s: show a genuinely obstructed drawer or an organiser that does not fit. “Before you buy drawer organisers, check these three measurements.”
3–8s: measure internal width. “Start with the inside width, not the front panel.”
8–13s: measure internal depth. “Then measure the usable depth.”
13–19s: show clearance and protrusions from the side. “Check the clearance too, including anything that gets in the way.”
19–25s: show a genuinely suitable arrangement and open and close slowly. “A quick check now can save you a return later. Save this before you shop.”

These are target timings and a shooting plan. Read the English aloud and time it; remove secondary lines rather than forcing a faster voiceover. Do not create unsafe obstruction for a video; start with the tape measure if the drawer works normally. Insert actual measurements after filming and make sure the organiser, measurements and final arrangement match.

For the first edit, 9:16 at 1080×1920 and 30fps is a useful production suggestion, not a recommendation eligibility requirement. Match each spoken line to one clear shot. Keep captions to one or two lines and away from bottom and right-side controls. Lower background music and watch the actual export to check speech and measurement visibility.

Write a shootable TikTok script from my verified product information.
Market: UK. Audience: renters in small homes. Topic: measuring before buying drawer organisers. Target duration: 25 seconds.
Product facts: [actual material, dimensions, suitable and unsuitable uses]. Available footage: [objects and settings].
Provide three hooks, a complete English voiceover using the chosen hook, a Chinese explanation for each line, matching shots, claims requiring filmed evidence, a cover title, post description and one natural closing action.
Use short natural English. Avoid superlatives and invented sales, reviews, certifications or performance claims. List unconfirmed specifications as missing. Shorten if necessary and ask me to read aloud to check duration.

10 · Use AI for organisation and rewriting; film the product evidence

Give the product facts and prompt to the AI Super Player agent to draft hooks and shots, then choose one to film. In a module your account can access, provide the market, customer question, verified benefits, duration and available footage rather than simply asking for a viral video. The desktop service is for members; use an account you are authorised to access.

If AI images or clips add atmosphere, inspect product appearance, structure, scale, lettering and hands frame by frame. Film purchasing evidence such as measurements, load tests, material tests and installation results yourself. Generated scenes must not be presented as product tests.

Generated clips still need editing, captions, sound and export review. Apply TikTok’s current labels for relevant realistic AI-generated people, audio or scenes, and check applicable commercial disclosure settings. Do not assume a label caused low reach or remove provenance information to avoid disclosure.

11 · Publish deliberately and change one main variable at a time

Watch the exported video in full before uploading. Check the cover, caption spelling, commercial music rights, applicable AI or promotional disclosures and audience visibility.

An example description is: “Buying drawer organisers? Check the inside width, usable depth and clearance before choosing a size.” Choose a few relevant topics such as drawerorganisation, smallkitchen and storagetips after checking the content under each term. A pile of unrelated trending tags does not guarantee reach.

Start at a sustainable pace, such as every other day, and increase only when production is ready. This is an execution and comparison plan, not a platform rule. Local lunchtime or evening can be an initial test, but record the target region’s actual date and time. UK daylight saving means a fixed Beijing-time conversion will not work all year. Later, use your own audience activity data.

After publishing, confirm that the post is public, audio works and the cover and description are correct. Answer genuine questions about dimensions, suitability or purchase channels using verified information. Avoid repeatedly deleting and reposting the same clip, or changing positioning, tags, timing and editing style together because the first hour was quiet.

12 · Read the first results and decide what to change next

Create one row per post with topic, hook, duration, publication date and target-region time, observation time, views, viewing metrics actually available in analytics, profile visits, follower changes, genuine questions and enquiries. Leave unavailable metrics blank.

I would record at roughly 24 hours, 72 hours and one week to compare equal observation windows. These are review times, not TikTok distribution deadlines. Do not directly compare a week-old video with a one-hour-old post.

Interpret patterns:
• Early drop-off: check for a slow introduction, delayed problem or tiny product. Move the problem forward and enlarge the subject in the next post while keeping other elements similar.
• Views but few profile visits: check whether the content relates to the business and whether the profile explains the next useful step.
• Profile visits but little contact: use another phone to test the link, loading, form, language, contact details and confirmation.
• Many comments from other sellers exchanging compliments: activity is not customer demand. Return to real buyer questions.
• Repeated sizing questions: make a focused answer video and update the product page.

Do not apply one completion-rate threshold to every industry. Duration, content type, traffic source and sample size differ. Compare your own similar posts before deciding which structure to retain.

Review these TikTok posts with genuine product enquiries as the goal.
First check whether observation windows match, which fields are missing and whether the sample is too small. State when comparisons are invalid.
For each issue, give: observed pattern, possible cause, evidence still needed and one variable to change in the next post.
Do not diagnose account suppression from low views alone. Without an explicit platform notice, do not present a restriction as confirmed.
End with three next-post ideas, each tied to a real user question, a hook, visual evidence and one action.
Data and comments: [paste verified records with personal details removed].

13 · Troubleshoot zero views, low views and recommendation restrictions

For zero views, check status before creative quality:
1. Confirm that the upload succeeded and is not a draft, still processing or failed.
2. Check account and post visibility; ensure it is not Only you or Friends.
3. Look for review, copyright, Community Guidelines or recommendation eligibility notices. Open the post’s More insights or Analytics, and locate account checks in TikTok Studio or settings as offered by the current version.
4. Ask an authorised colleague in a working environment to open the public URL and verify playback. Record the exact error, time, URL and app/device version.
5. If you believe an explicit decision is wrong, appeal through its notice with original assets, rights or factual evidence. Do not create replacement accounts to evade enforcement.

For low views without a restriction notice, review the hook, clarity, topic, audience fit, originality and sample size. A few hundred views do not prove an account ban; there is no universal 200-view pass/fail threshold.

For persistent technical problems, update the official app, check connectivity and storage, and submit specific information through Report a problem. Save original footage before clearing caches. Uninstalling, clearing app data or factory resetting should not be the first step because local drafts may be lost.

If a post is explicitly ineligible for recommendation, retain the stated reason and review the relevant rule. One post’s recommendation eligibility and whether the account can log in are separate issues.

Keep a diagnostic record when publishing goes wrong

Before changing settings for zero views or a recommendation issue, record the video URL, publication time and time zone, observation time, visibility, upload or review status, exact notice, app version and whether another normal viewer can open it. Keep the notice context in screenshots and redact private messages and contact details.

Separate observations from guesses. “The page shows zero views two hours after publication” is an observation; it alone does not establish suppressed distribution. If a recommendation-eligibility notice exists, follow its reason and appeal route. Otherwise first check upload status, visibility and content.

Change one relevant setting at a time and record before and after. Repeated deletion, reposting, device changes and positioning changes destroy useful comparisons. Give support the actual video and error details rather than only asking why views are low.

Help me diagnose a TikTok publishing issue without inferring a ban or suppressed distribution from view counts alone.
Video URL: [fill in]
Publication time, time zone and observation time: [fill in]
Visibility, upload and review status: [fill in]
Full platform notice: [paste exactly, or say none]
Result when a colleague opens the link: [result or not checked]
Recent setting changes: [fill in]
Return evidence-backed facts, unknowns, the first three checks, and screenshots or records to retain. If there is a specific notice, base next steps on it. Do not suggest new accounts to evade enforcement. Ask about missing information rather than turning speculation into platform conclusions.

14 · Turn genuine questions into useful conversations

Answer the question first, then offer the next step. If someone asks whether an organiser fits their drawer, do not reply only “DM me”. Ask for internal width, depth and clearance, then check the product. Say when something still needs confirmation.

Example: “Could you share the inside width, depth and clearance of your drawer? I can check which size might fit.” If direct messages are unavailable, use a contact method actually enabled on the profile rather than promising an inaccessible feature.

A consumer landing page should explain dimensions, material, actual use, delivery coverage, returns and contact details. For business buyers, establish use, specifications, quantity and destination before quoting. Do not request unnecessary identity documents or personal information just to start a conversation.

Submit a test enquiry through any external form and confirm that the team receives it and knows who follows up. Record the originating post rather than just “TikTok”. The goal is to identify content that creates useful conversations, not only views.

15 · Adapt the workflow for exports, factories and personal brands

Export products: replace drawer organisation with specification selection. Show a concrete consequence of choosing the wrong specification, demonstrate measurements and compatibility, then ask buyers for use, quantity and destination.

Factories: focus on real processes, inspection, samples and packing. Film a step that resolves a buyer concern, such as how a product is measured, rather than only the gate and distant machinery. Confirm permission before showing customer brands, orders or employees.

Personal brands: demonstrate your method through a specific question, such as three details often omitted from a first export quotation email. Explain when the advice applies and use anonymised or fictional examples without presenting them as personal client results.

Keep asking: whose question does this answer, what evidence supports it, and what can the viewer do next? If those answers are unclear, narrow the topic before adding AI effects.

16 · A practical two-week operating rhythm

Days 1–2: assign the operator, establish genuinely available access, register, configure security and prepare assets. Resolve access problems instead of registering accounts in bulk.
Days 3–4: complete the profile and contact journey, organise benchmarks and choose three content themes. Confirm samples and filming locations.
Days 5–7: film and publish the first three posts, checking their actual display and audience questions. Publish earlier if ready; there is no mandatory waiting period.
Days 8–10: record equal observation windows, identify the most useful question to answer next and film missing details.
Days 11–14: continue the next batch, aiming to cover the first ten topics. Extend the schedule if needed rather than filling it with weak content. Choose a reusable structure and prepare the next topics.

After two weeks, useful assets include an account you control, a functioning contact journey, original footage, several published content structures and real feedback. Followers and sales depend on the offer, content, market and execution and cannot be promised by a particular day.

17 · Common questions answered directly

Do I need an overseas phone number?
Follow the options and requirements shown in the current registration and verification flow. An email option does not guarantee that no other verification will be required. Retain long-term control of both channels instead of relying on temporary numbers.

Must I remove a SIM, change language or buy a dedicated phone?
There is no reliable official basis for making those universal launch requirements. Check installation channels, service availability, actual environment and account eligibility separately. One phone setting does not grant a regional account or regional distribution.

Must I browse for half an hour every day?
That is not a verified official requirement. Research should produce customer questions and shootable topics; a mechanical viewing quota does not guarantee recommendations.

Should I delete and repost a video with no views?
Check upload status, visibility, reviews and recommendation notices first, then the content. Retain links and data for diagnosis. Deletion also does not automatically remove an existing platform violation record.

Can I start with limited English?
Begin with clear hand demonstrations and captions. Use AI to draft short lines, then have someone proficient in the target language check meaning. Dimensions, materials and after-sales terms must be accurate; a Chinese back-translation alone is insufficient.

Can one account sell many products?
You can expand around related customer needs, but start with a clear problem. Organisers, dividers and organising methods can fit together; unrelated businesses make the reason to follow unclear.

18 · Official references and further learning

For platform features and rules, I prioritise official help. Use the links below when registration, regions, eligibility or interfaces change.
